📚 Kindergarten Literacy Workstations! 📚
In Mrs. Unkrich's class, students are learning through literacy workstations. The students are learning to work independently in small groups. Mrs. Unkrich works with small guided reading groups while our young scholars are learning in their workstations. They are rotated on a daily basis, so each day students are focusing on a different skill or a skill that they may need to build upon. Soon they will be ready to begin guided reading groups! #FarmerFun #Enjoy

🍏 Apples & Engineering ⚙️
With fall officially here, Mrs. Collin's 3rd graders took time to learn about apples! The class investigated the many varieties of apples, how large apples can get (including the world's largest apple,) and much more. Afterwards, our young scholars explored the properties of paper and began engineering and testing their very own apple trappers. #FarmerFun #Enjoy

Fall Weather 🍂
It may not officially be fall, yet, but we have had some cooler weather of late. At FCES, we try to get students outdoors, as much as possible, for recesses, Physical Education, and mask breaks. We even have classes learning at the outdoor classroom, on the trail, or underneath a comfy shade tree. This is just a friendly reminder to make sure students are wearing weather appropriate clothing to school. Pants and jackets are a huge help, especially, on a windy day like today!

📚 Reading Time in Mrs. Layer's Class! 📚
Mrs. Layer's 1st graders have been working to become super readers during their reading time. They learned that good readers read the pictures, read the words, and retell the story. Student's find a quiet, comfortable spot in the classroom to focus on reading. Everyone has their own book tub with books, poems, and a reading buddy (stuffed animal) to read to during quiet reading time. The class has set a goal of 15 minutes without stopping and have already made it all the way to 9 minutes!
Good luck on reaching your goal Mrs. Layer's class!!! #FarmerFun #Enjoy

She was impressed at how well all of the teams worked together with their teammates to build some outstanding towers! The winning team’s tower is pictured with Bo Peep at the top!

📊 Graphing Popsicles! 😋
Ms. Farris's students have been practicing their skip counting and graphing skills in math this week. These 1st graders created "twin-pops" to count 2 sticks per popsicle. Later on, students voted on the top 3 favorite flavors of popsicles, which were strawberry, blueberry, and root beer, and to work on their graphing skills. After discussing the data, students decided that it would be great if their parents knew what the class's favorite popsicle flavors were! #FarmerFun #Enjoy
