  • For Kaiya Hintz and Trista Nichols’ Harvest Team project they are wanting to bring

more awareness of different types of cancers that are not as well known, yet are the deadliest to those who are diagnosed with them. There will be a donation bin set up each Friday of March, near the front doors, where you can drop off gifts for cancer patients. This can include any warm wear, blankets, socks, gum, hand sanitizer, lotion, chapstick, activity

books, journals, or hard candy. There will be a list on the bin with more donation ideas. For

the month of March we will be focusing on 4 of the top deadliest cancers, one for each week

in March. At the end of the week on Friday we encourage the students of FCHS to wear the

color of the cancer’s ribbon to bring awareness and support for the cause.

This week we will be focusing on lung cancer where the ribbon color is white.  If lung cancer is discovered before it spreads beyond the lungs, the five-year survival rate is 55 percent. If cancer has already spread to other parts of the body, the five-year survival rate is 4 percent. Don’t forget to wear white tomorrow in support of lung cancer and to help bring awareness.
