For Kaiya Hintz and Trista Nichols’ Harvest Team project they are wanting to bring
more awareness to different types of cancers that are not as well known, yet are the deadliest to those who are diagnosed with them. There will be a donation bin set up each Friday of March, near the front doors, where you can drop off gifts for cancer patients. This can include any warm wear, blankets, socks, gum, hand sanitizer, lotion, chapstick, activity
books, journals, or hard candy. There will be a list on the bin with more donation ideas. For
the month of March we will be focusing on 4 of the top deadliest cancers, one for each week
in March. At the end of the week on Friday we encourage the students of FCHS to wear the
color of the cancer’s ribbon to bring awareness and support for the cause.
This week we will be focusing on Pancreatic cancer where the ribbon color is dark
purple. Pancreatic is the 4th deadliest cancer in the United States. In 2021 an estimated
60,430 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the U.S., and more than 48,220 will die from the disease. That’s more than 155 people diagnosed each day.
