Congratulations to Lily Sharum who was selected as March’s Senior of the Month. Lily excels academically as she is in the top 10% of her class and is a member of the National Honor Society. Along with her studies, Lily is involved in various extracurricular activities including: Cross Country, Track, Band, and ACES. In addition to her involvement in school, Lily finds time to give back as she volunteers within the community. She has donated her time to helping with summer recreational activities at Jacob’s Park. She has also assisted students through our tutoring program at FCHS and entertained children at the Wildlife Prairie Park annual Halloween event. Lily will attend Carl Sandburg in the fall and then transfer to a 4-year university. She is undecided on what her major will be at this time. Good luck in all of your future endeavors, Lily!

For Kaiya Hintz and Trista Nichols’ harvest team project they are wanting to bring
more awareness to different types of cancers that are not as well known, yet are the deadliest
to those who are diagnosed with them. There will be a donation bin set up each Friday of
March, near the front doors, where you can drop off gifts for cancer patients. This can
include any warm wear, blankets, socks, gum, hand sanitizer, lotion, chapstick, activity
books, journals, or hard candy. There will be a list on the bin with more donation ideas. For
the month of March we will be focusing on 4 of the top deadliest cancers, one for each week
in March. At the end of the week on Friday we encourage the students of FCHS to wear the
color of the cancer’s ribbon to bring awareness and support for the cause. This week the
focus is on Prostate cancer where the ribbon color is sky blue.
Prostate cancer is the 2nd most frequently diagnosed cancer among men. One in seven men
will be diagnosed in their lifetime.
- Football practice starts tomorrow after school.
